about

Enzo from the Polaroid Blog asked me a couple of weeks before Christmas if the Memory Fades had a spare song for his Christmas 2019 compilation, unfortunately I didn’t have anything he could use but I thought I’m sure I can record a song in a day or two , my old band used to record 3 in a day and a half! All I had to do was stop faffing about and get on with it. Anyway I set to work with a song I wrote a while ago now but never managed to record. It was recorded quite quickly over a few nights in my living room, I tried to keep the first take of everything which might explain why it’s quite rough around the edges sorry about that. If you missed it on Enzo’s blog you can download it free on here.. In my head it’s Scritti Politti, the Go-Betweens, The Bee Gees , Galaxie 500 and Squeeze but then ... I have got a strange head !

lyrics

Rose

Hiding under your table
With a ray gun in my hand
Playing Star Trek with David
And Darren and Julie Anne

And if you see her will you tell her
That everybody misses Rose
And f you see her will you tell her
I really really miss her so
And if you see her will you tell her that
Everybody misses
Everybody misses
Everybody misses Rose

Friday after work
And everybody calls around
That contentedness I felt
Has never since been found
